Access internet on Oracle Virtual Box

This article provides with in depth tutorial on how to access internet on oracle virtual Box as well as internal network. This is used mostly during penetration testing where access to your own network is required as well access to internet is required. The following are the steps required to access internet in Virtual Box.

Step 1:- Start Virtual Box and open any Operating system in which you wish to access internet on.

Step 2: Open the settings for that particular OS

Click on Network option

The following image shows Host only Adapter which is use to access internal network.

Now in order access internet there should be one more network adapter added.

Select the option as NAT because this controls the virtual adapter which is connected to real adapter in the system.

Close the setting and Start the OS.

Step 3: In Linux base OS open Terminal and type ifconfig

The output shows there are 3 adapters out of which eth0 is the Host Only Adapter where as eth1 is NAT adapter which is used for internet access.

For Windows Use open command Prompt r type ipconfig

The output shows there are two LAN connection out of which LAN  is use for internal network where as LAN 2 is used for internet access.
