Install MYSQL in Ubuntu

MYSQL is an open source SQL which widely used. As been open source cost factor is affected as licensing of SQL required investment of money. MYSQL provides same features as SQL and considered very powerful tool for managing database.

Development with WordPress requires database. For easy accessibility and editing of WordPress database, MYSQL is used. Installing MYSQL also installs MYSQL client and server.

Below provides steps on how to install MYSQL in Ubuntu (Linux) using terminal (Command prompt)

Step 1:- open terminal and type command Sudo apt-get install mysql-server libapache2-mod-auth-mysql php5-mysql.

Step 2:- While installation, installation would ask for additional 109MB disk space. Type “y”.

Step 3:- MySQL package configuration would appeared and asking for new password for MYSQL “root” user. Recommendation to type “root”.

Step 4:- Once you have installed MYSQL, activation of MYSQL is required by typing command Sudo mysql_install_db and enter the password which was entered on step 3.

Step 5 :- In case of forgotten password, reset password has been asked. Followed by some by default questions would be asked and it is recommended to type “y” to all questions.

Step 6:- To check the status of MYSQL type command mysqladmin –u root –p status in terminal
