This article provides in depth tutorial on how to setup Pentesting Environment in Local machine. Before creating environment, there are 3 things needed.
The following are the steps for creating Pentesting Environment:-
Step 1:- General Setting for VirtualBox.
Click on File on right top and select Preferences Option
Select Network option
Select Host-only Networks
Add host-only network
Edit Host-only Network
Host-only Network by Default Details
Adding DHCP setting for Host-only network (Host in this would be granted IP address from this range)
Step 2:- Changing network setting for Virtual Machine In VirtualBox
Open Setting of Windows Virtual Machine
Change Network Setting for Windows Xp
Open Setting of Backtrack 5 Virtual machine
Change Network Setting for Backtrack
Step 3:- Testing and ping virtual Machine
Start Window Xp Virtual Machine and open command prompt
Check IP address ( IP address would be from range provided in DHCP server in host-only network setting)
Start Backtrack Virtual Machine and open Terminal and Check IP address ( IP address would be from range provided in DHCP server in host-only network setting)
Ping from Backtrack to Windows XP (If ping is not successful. turn off windows firewall in windows Xp)
Ping from windows Xp to backtrack
Pentesting Environment is now created.
